He was reaching up to the grille of a stall, maybe for the shutter, maybe just resting his arms on it, and the shape held long enough for one frame. The diamonds of the cage, the arms, the block colours of the polo shirt, all of it stacked up for a second.
I could not decide between the two treatments, so I am keeping both. In colour the shirt carries it, green and yellow and purple against the green of the grille. In black and white the whole thing becomes the pattern of the cage and the line of the arms, and the shirt stops mattering.
That is the honest reason there are two files here. Sometimes a frame reads as a picture about colour and as a picture about shape, and I would rather show both than argue myself out of one. Both are the 55 at ISO 6400, grabbed quickly in the covered aisle before he lowered his arms.
