A few stalls over from the noise, she had found a window to lean on. A pole rested across the opening, a broom handle or a curtain rod, and she leaned her head near the frame with her eyes shut. Not asleep, just off the clock for a minute.

I took it quietly and moved on. The colour frame keeps her red and white top and the warmth of the wood; the black and white lets the light on her face do the work and drops everything else back. Same second, two readings, so both are here.

Markets are usually photographed as motion. This was the opposite, one person holding still in the middle of it, which is often the frame I end up keeping. The 55 at ISO 1600, close enough to hold just her face and the wood of the frame, the same market at Arusha as the stall a few minutes before.
