The domaine keeps art in its older rooms all season, and the low vaulted spaces suit it: bare stone, a few hard lights, no daylight to argue with.

These were cut from whole timber, the tool marks left in. The lighting was doing as much as the carving, throwing a second figure onto the wall behind the first. I spent longer on the shadow than the object.
