A day in the gardens and I'd barely looked at the building they belong to. It sits above the Loire with the full set of round towers and pointed roofs, more comfortable than defensive by the time it was finished.
The planting does a lot for it. Deep borders run right up toward the walls, so you can shoot the stone over a foreground of dahlias and salvia and let the colour carry the frame. The couple in the second shot wandered in on their own; I kept it.
