When the gardens get busy I tend to go the other way and shoot leaves. The domaine has enough exotic planting to keep that going for an hour: monkey puzzle up top, cannas and rubber plants lower down.
The canna leaf was the one, held up against the sun until it went the colour of stained glass. The rubber plant's new leaf comes wrapped in a red sheath that photographs like a flag. Even the bamboo, scarred by who knows how many visitors, had something to it.
Four close frames, longest lens, from the plainer end of the day.
