We went back up onto the Côte Vermeille in the evening, when the vineyards are at their best. This is some of the steepest vine country in France, terraces cut into the hillside and held with dry stone, running right down to where the rock meets the sea. It is all worked by hand because nothing else fits.

The light came and went under a broken sky, which is how you want it here. A few minutes of gold on the terraces, the sea turning to silver, then a hill town on the far ridge lighting up under the last of the cloud with its little fort keeping watch above.

I kept both vineyard frames for the blog and led with the town. Base ISO on the last one, the light doing all the work.
