After a week of stone, brick and gilt, a morning in a garden was the correction I needed. This far south things grow with a bit of swagger, and the flowers were happy to be photographed one at a time.

The bird of paradise is the showman, all orange and blue, caught here in low side light that picks out the strut of it. The powderpuff is pure texture, a red firework of stamens, and the alstroemeria brings the freckled orange that seems to be everywhere down here.

Nothing technical about these, just the 55 up close and a bit of patience for the light to sit right. A palate cleanser between the monuments.
