The move over to Grasmere came with the same low cloud we had at Windermere, which is the deal you make with the Lakes in spring. The water was dead flat, one yacht tied up and going nowhere, the whole scene holding its breath.

The second frame is why I like this end of the valley. The fell comes up steep and pointed right behind the cottages, close enough that the village looks tucked in under it, with the cloud snagging on the top. White render, green trees, and then all that dark ground going straight up.

Both frames at f/11 to keep the depth from the field to the ridge, which on the 55 needs the aperture.
