The hire boats at Grasmere were all still ashore or tied up when we came through, painted up and waiting for the weather that brings the day-trippers. Green, cream, yellow, one of them called Norma, lined along a quiet stretch of shore with the reeds and the fells behind.
The swan had clearly decided the place was its own. It preened on the bank, ignored the mallard, and then slid out onto the water and posed next to Norma as if it had read the composition over my shoulder. On flat water like that you get the whole boat twice, hull and reflection, which is most of why I kept the second frame as the cover.
f/8 and base ISO for the reflection; the swan did the rest.
