The last leg was down to the southeast coast, the beaches just north of Jambiani, where the point of the day narrows to the water and not much else. After the dust of the mainland it takes a day to trust that the sea is really that colour.
A dhow had been pulled up onto the sand with its sail still set, which is a picture that makes itself. And out over the shallows, one of those little bars on stilts you reach by a walkway at low tide, sitting in water so clear it barely reads as water at all.
Both the 55, base ISO to 200, stopped well down for the glare. This is the holiday end of the trip, and the pictures know it: nothing is happening, and that is the whole appeal.
