First evening out, and Kanazawa does most of its talking in warm light after dark. The Tsuzumi-mon is the obvious place to start: the big wooden gate at the station, its name borrowed from the hand drums of Noh, lit up over the glass dome with a few people standing under it for scale. I shot it straight on and let the lattice fill the top of the frame.
After that the smaller windows. A sake shop with its whole front given over to backlit shelves of bottles, glowing like a vending machine designed by someone who cared. Then a restaurant wrapped in coloured diamond glass, red and green and yellow, the charcoal-grill signs stacked above it.
The gate needed ISO 12800 wide open to the night sky; the lit shopfronts let me drop back to 3200 and then 1600. Handheld throughout, just chasing the warm windows down the street.
