The last frame of the Kyoto day, and the furthest from where it started. After the river and the shrines and the long golden hour at Kiyomizu, a dark bar and a green cocktail in a coupe, the froth still settling.
The bottle next to it was the curiosity: a Japanese pearl liqueur called Aphrodite Blue, the colour pooled at the bottom and shading up to clear, like something decanting rather than mixed. I set the drink and the bottle together and let the bar bokeh do the background.
Handheld at ISO 3200 in very low light, wide enough to keep the glass sharp and let everything behind it fall away. A quiet way to close a day that had a rainbow in it, in one of those speakeasy-style cocktail bars tucked away near Gion Duck Noodles, the kind of place you have to know about to find.
