Down toward the southern end of the lake the crowds thin out and the shore goes quiet. This house sits on its own wooded point, half hidden in the trees, with a steep green hillside coming down behind it and the water going still and glassy out front.
It is the sort of position that was clearly chosen, not settled for. Whoever built there was buying the view as much as the ground, and on a calm morning like this one it pays out: reflections, moored yachts small in the distance, no sound carrying across the water.
One frame, the 55 at f/8, base ISO. Sometimes a place only asks for the one.
