The other half of the same morning, spent closer to camp. A ridge taking the first colour, then the grounds themselves in that short window of golden light where even a lodge lawn looks worth photographing.

The frame I went back to is the escarpment with the sun coming over its rim, rays and haze hanging in the air while the plain below stayed dark a while longer. Then it was time to pack the trucks and move on from Natron.

The ridge and the grounds are the 55 at ISO 800 in the low light; the escarpment is back at base ISO 64 once the sun was properly up. The last morning in the Natron country before the road turned toward the Serengeti.
