Out of the crater and climbing back toward the rim as the day ended, working small and close while there was still light for it. A single red flower had got itself tangled in a thorn tree, bright against the dark of the branches, the kind of thing you only see because you have slowed right down.
The agave was throwing up its flower stalk, that tall branched mast a plant sends up once and then dies for, held against the last of the sky. Then the hills themselves, going blue and gold as the sun dropped behind them.
All on the 55, base ISO to 200, one frame stopped to f/32 to keep the agave sharp against the country behind it. The end of the Ngorongoro day, and of the crater, before the road turned toward Tarangire.
