The elephant was the obvious frame: one animal crossing under one tree on an otherwise empty plain, the kind of clean composition the Serengeti hands you now and then. It walked its line and I took it.
The guineafowl was the frame I nearly missed while looking at the elephant. Up in the branches, spotted grey with that odd bare blue head, sitting out the afternoon above everyone. Two very different animals sharing a tree, which is most of what a plain like this is: everything using the same few landmarks.
Both on the 135, base ISO to 200. Worth remembering to look up as well as out; the small strange bird was hiding in plain sight over the big obvious one.
