Two animals, two strategies for the same problem, which by mid-morning is already the heat. The giraffe takes the high road, browsing up in the acacias where there is at least a breeze and a view.
The hippos take the low one, packed into what was left of a waterhole, mostly underwater with just eyes and backs showing. Not elegant, but effective, and they will stay down there until the sun is off the water.
Both on the 135, base ISO 64 to 100 in flat light. Nothing dramatic happening in either frame, which is most of a day out here, and still worth the stop.
