Some of what you photograph on a long game drive is just the strangeness of the place. A single red fire extinguisher on a post out in the middle of the grass, ready for a fire nobody could reach in time. A dead acacia still holding the shape it grew into, refusing to fall over.

Then the grass moved and a serval stepped half out of it, tall ears, long legs, the cat you can go a whole trip without seeing. That is the way of these drives: you photograph the odd inanimate things to fill the time, and the sighting you actually wanted arrives when you have stopped expecting it.
