Out of the whole evening on the beach, this was the frame where it all lined up: the peak of a somersault, the body fully inverted and still, the sky clean behind it. A hundredth of a second earlier or later and it is a person falling; here it is a shape.

So it gets its own post, and both treatments. In colour it stays an evening on the Stone Town seafront, warm sky, boats below, a kid showing off. In black and white the setting drops away and it is just a body and the curve it cut against the light, which is the other reason I pressed the shutter.

Both the 55 at ISO 1600, the same instant at the top of the jump. Once in a while the reflexes and the background and the athlete all agree, and you keep the proof of it twice.
