The pond is the centre of the garden, fed from the bay so the level shifts with the tide, and at this hour it was dead flat. The towers behind the far bank had gone fully gold and the water gave them all back, rippled just enough to read as a painting rather than a mirror. Someone stood on the long wooden bridge, not moving, which helped.

I circled it for twenty minutes. The second frame looks out across the wider water to the skyline and an arched bridge; the third turns back inland, where the pines sit on an embankment already dropping into shadow while the buildings beyond still catch the sun.

All on the 55 at f/6.8, base ISO until the shaded slope in the last frame pushed it to 400. The light was doing all the work by then, and falling fast.
