Every trip ends on something ordinary, and these were mine. The last night, down from the Skytree, I turned the long lens on a wall of apartment blocks across the way: external balconies stacked and lit warm, a single white car tucked into a ground-floor bay, a few people crossing the footbridge below. The kind of unremarkable city block I find I photograph more than the landmarks.
The next afternoon, the very last frame, was a glass-fronted shopping complex with the escalators crossing behind it, people carried up and down through the warm light. I have shot a lot of Japanese escalators on this trip; fitting that the camera went quiet on one more.
Both handheld and high, ISO 12800 the last night and 6400 the next day. After this it was the train to the airport. The shopping complex was over in Ginza, near Ginza Six. Thanks for following the whole run.
