Up top, the sun was just going, and Fuji was out: a clean cut-out on the orange horizon, eighty miles off and unmistakable. That does not always happen, so I gave it the wide frame, the Sumida winding through the lower half of the city with its bridges already lit. The vertical is the same view a few minutes later, the orange band thinner, the city darker.
The third frame is what I kept watching once the colour had gone. A single floodlit ball field, burning orange down by the river, one warm rectangle in a city turning to a grid of small cold lights. The bridge beside it streaming traffic.
All three at ISO 12800 through the observation glass, braced as best I could, down to 1/25 on the first. Not clinical, but the view does not need clinical.
