Late afternoon at the Abbaye de la Trinite in Vendome. The freestanding Romanesque bell tower is the first thing you see, the arcading stacked in stages until it turns octagonal near the top.

Inside the walls the garden is small and deliberate: willow-hurdle beds on raked gravel, herbs and flowers kept low against the older stone. The kind of place built to be walked slowly.

Four frames: the tower, the way through the arch, the willow beds, and one flamboyant window standing over the marigolds.
