Evening light on the old parish church at Bowness, the local slate warming right up as the sun dropped. What caught me was the blue: the window frames picked out in a soft, faded blue against all that grey stone, which is not the pairing you expect and works better than it has any right to.
The headstones out front have been leaning for long enough that the grass has grown up around them, and the low sun raked across the lettering just enough to keep them from going flat. A dark yew holds the right edge of the frame.
It sits tucked in among the shops and hotels of the village, easy to walk straight past on the way to the water. Shot on the 55 at f/8, ISO up a little to hold the shutter in the fading light.
